“Is the Glass Ceiling Gone?”
“Is the Old Boys’ Network Dead?”
Two very good questions, and the title of this article in this past Sunday’s Boston Globe Magazine. Both questions were asked of women AND men! Their “take” is quite interesting…
Are we making progress in this arena? I think so, but we can always do more.
As a woman, I have personally experienced the glass ceiling, especially early in my career when the good old boys’ network was definitely in full swing! But, I have to tell you, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how many of my female confidants and new friends have come forward to help guide me on this new path I am on, and I am extremely grateful for their support. Each has shared something that I will take with me as I continue to grow my business, but I’m NOT going to leave out the MEN who have also been mentors to me! It’s been a real gift to have their encouragement and guidance along the way as well. Are they “exceptions to the rule?” Perhaps, but with men like that, and women who are willing to be mentors, we will continue to develop exceptional, successful leaders.
