Chris Waddell
Perhaps the most widely known as the most decorated monoskier in US history, Chris Waddell went on to become the fastest in the world. If that’s not enough, as a paraplegic, he handcycled in a wheelchair all the way up to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
“As an adult, we don’t give ourselves the recognition of the things that we’ve learned…like learning to walk, how miraculous is that to go from, this lump of baby, to actually being able to walk and we’ve all done it…or speaking, you know, learning to talk is the same kind of thing. And I get to see that in skiing, yes, where I got to go from effectively the lump of baby to like, ‘Oh, wow, l can balance and then I can sort of turn and I can turn better.’ And it was the hardest, and coolest, thing that I’ve been through.
